From December 2006 First Capital Connect will be introducing new easy to use ticket gates at key stations across our network.
The ticket gates will help us to deilver better customer service by improving security on our stations & trains by deterring crime &
vandalism.
The gates will ensure that customers who purchase the correct ticket for the travel will no longer be subsidsing those who have not purchased
tickets.
Please remember to allow enough time to buy your ticket, as you will need it to pass through the gates. Please also remember to retain your
ticket until you reach your destination as ticket barriers or gates may be in operatuin at that station.
Some gates will be wide aisiled, which will allow extra space for customers with bicycles, luggage, pushchairs or extra bags to pass through
easily.
If you require further assistance, please speak to a member of our station staff.
How to use the gates
- As you approach the gates, choose one with a green arrow.
- Please pit your valid face up into the slot on the right-hand side of the gate.
- At these stations in the London Oyster 'pay as you go' or Travelcard areas, the gates will also be fitted with a yellow card reader. Please 'touch in ' & 'touch out'.
- If you present a single ticket or the return portion of your ticket at your destination station, it will be retaibed by the machine.
- Other tickets will be returned throughthe slot at the top of the gate. Please remember to pick up your ticket.
- If your ticket is valid, the gates will open to allow you through.
- If for any reson the gates do not open. a warning will sound & a message will flash up askibg you to seek assistance.
- If your Season Ticket fails to operate the gate, its magnetic strip may be damaged. If that is the case, it will be replaced free of charge by the issuing office.
- If you have heavy luggage, require mobility assistance or for any other reason need help getting through the gates, staff will be on hand to help.
